My legal analyses, commentary and precedent-setting rulings have been covered by Polish and international newsrooms covering law, finance and the judiciary.

Rzeczpospolita • legal opinion

First final and binding security order in Poland for a WIBOR-based mortgage. A precedent that opened the door for other borrowers.

What's your matter about?

Pick the area that fits your situation. If you're not sure which one applies, just call. We'll figure it out in 5 minutes.

Family law

I handle the full scope of family law matters: divorce (with or without a finding of fault), child custody and contact, parental authority, alimony and division of marital property, including cross-border cases involving expat couples. These cases shape your life after the judgment. They need both procedural strategy and emotional sensitivity.

📜

Inheritance, wills & zachowek

For inheritance with a Polish or cross-border element I handle: wills (Polish and foreign), forced heirship reserve (zachowek), estate division, declaration of acquisition of inheritance, EU Succession Regulation 650/2012 cases, liability for estate debts. Time limits are short (e.g., 5 years for zachowek) and family conflicts behind these matters can be the most emotionally taxing.

💠

Loan agreement analysis & WIBOR

I represent borrowers in disputes over Polish WIBOR-based mortgage clauses, CHF mortgages and the "free credit sanction" (sankcja kredytu darmowego). The first final and binding security order in Poland for a WIBOR-based mortgage (ref. VI ACz 1125/23) was obtained in a case I handled, covered by Politico Europe, Rzeczpospolita, Newsweek and Gazeta Prawna. Particularly relevant for expats with Polish-złoty mortgages.

Immigration (Ukraine, post-March 2026)

For immigration matters I handle legalization of residence for Ukrainian citizens: CUKR residence card, administrative complaints against the Voivode, status after 4 March 2026, the Polish sunset act, PESEL UKR, short-term lease agreements (najem okazjonalny) for Ukrainian citizens, and representation before the regional administrative court (WSA). The largest case volume in my practice in 2026.

IT, SaaS & GDPR

For tech I handle: SaaS and software implementation contracts, software licensing, copyright and intellectual property, GDPR compliance in IT environments, B2B contracts for freelancers and software houses, vendor disputes. Law that fits the pace of the industry, not the other way around.

Bartosz Stasik, attorney-at-law

Effective legal help in difficult life and business matters. Since 2010 I have guided clients through divorces, inheritance and succession, commercial and civil disputes. My work isn't just about statutes, it's about your safety and your finances. I offer help based on facts, integrity and an individual strategy for every case.

My legal analyses and rulings obtained in cases I handled have been covered by Polish and international media. Politico Europe wrote about a case I handled in the context of chaos in the Polish judicial system, and Rzeczpospolita published my co-authored opinion piece on the WIBOR dispute. Gazeta Prawna commented on the breakthrough in WIBOR case law as "the end of judicial uniformity", and Dziennik.pl called the ruling "crossing the Rubicon". In 2024 the Warsaw Court of Appeal, in a case handled by my law office, issued the first final and binding security order in Poland for a WIBOR-based mortgage (ref. VI ACz 1125/23).

I run an attorney's office in Wrocław, Poland, but successfully represent clients before courts throughout the country. I work with English-speaking clients in family law, real estate, business contracts, IT/GDPR, cross-border inheritance and WIBOR mortgage disputes. Four steps from a phone call to a judgment

Most people calling an attorney for the first time don't know what to expect. Below is the entire process, step by step, with no ambiguity about how it works.

01

Phone call or Calendly

A short intake conversation, a few questions about your matter, and a determination of whether this is an area where I can really help. This is not yet the paid consultation. Its purpose is matching you with the right attorney, not analysing the case. If your matter fits my practice, we schedule the full consultation (step 02). If not, I point you to where to look next.

02

Full consultation

A meeting at the office or online. Document analysis, scenario discussion, a specific quote for handling the case. You leave the consultation knowing what's ahead and how much it will cost.

03

Engagement agreement and power of attorney

If you decide to engage me, we sign a clear agreement: scope of services, fee amount, billing model. No hidden costs, no after-the-fact addenda.

04

Case handling

Every important development is reported: pleadings are discussed before filing, strategic decisions are made together. I'm available by phone and email throughout the process.

How we settle for handling a case

I use three fee models, tailored to the type and character of the matter. The specific amount and model are agreed during the full consultation, after document analysis.

Legal consultation
PLN 250
at the office or online, no time limit

The consultation is not an interview, it's a conversation in which we analyse your matter without rushing. It lasts as long as the problem requires. I don't bill by the minute, I don't watch the clock. After the consultation you know what your options are, what realistic scenarios look like, and how much it will cost to handle the case if you decide to engage me.

Flat fee per task

An amount agreed in advance for a specific, one-off task. From the start, the client knows what they will pay, regardless of how much time I spend on it.

When I use it: contract review, legal opinion, drafting a single pleading, verification of an inheritance document.

Hourly rate

Billing for time actually spent, documented with a statement of activities. The client gets full transparency into the law office's work.

When I use it: strategic advisory, matters with unpredictable trajectories, negotiations, ongoing business support on atypical issues.

Lump-sum fee

A fixed amount for handling the entire case through to a final judgment, regardless of the number of hearings and changes in circumstances. The client has full predictability of costs from day one.

When I use it: divorce cases, inheritance cases, court representation in disputes with a predictable scope of work.

The specific model and fee amount are agreed during the full consultation, after document analysis and assessment of the case scope. Every engagement with the law office is in writing, all terms of cooperation are in the document we sign before starting work on the case.

Practice limits

What I don't handle

A good attorney knows what they don't know and what they won't take on. Specialisation is cheaper for the client and more effective in court than a generalist who tries a bit of everything. There are also matters I don't take for reasons other than competence.

  • Tax matters I am not a tax advisor.
  • Criminal cases involving sexual offences I do not handle these cases. Please contact a different attorney.
  • Defence of perpetrators of hate crimes against minorities I do not undertake the defence of persons accused of hate crimes targeting any minority group. This is a line I do not cross, regardless of the financial stake.

If your matter falls into any of the above areas, don't waste your time or mine on a call. Better find an attorney who specialises in that field or who takes such cases.

Where exactly the entrance is
The office entrance is between the florist and the PKO bank branch, on the corner of Szybowcowa and Horbaczewskiego streets, opposite the taxi rank.
Where to park
I recommend the multi-storey car park at Astra Mall. The small surface car park 10 metres from the office is often full, don't count on it.

Several times Mr. Stasik represented my client's opposing party, and he always proposed the best solution not only for his client but also for mine. Despite the clients' enormous emotions, together with him we were able to protect their interests in the best possible way. He is a true professional, but he also has tremendous understanding and empathy.

First final and binding security order in Poland for a WIBOR-based mortgage

Warsaw Court of Appeal ref. VI ACz 1125/23

In proceedings handled by my law office, the Warsaw Court of Appeal issued the first final and binding security order in Poland in a case concerning a mortgage indexed to the WIBOR benchmark, opening a line of case law that courts across the country now rely on.

The case has been commented on by Politico Europe, Rzeczpospolita, Newsweek, Gazeta Prawna and Dziennik.pl. I co-authored a legal commentary on this ruling published in Rzeczpospolita.

For WIBOR borrowers, including expats with PLN-denominated mortgages, this means a concrete option: suspension of mortgage installment payments for the duration of proceedings, if the court finds that WIBOR clauses may be abusive. Every case requires individual contract analysis, but the Warsaw Court of Appeal ruling showed this path is real.

Do you have a Polish-złoty WIBOR mortgage? I'll check whether your case has grounds for a security motion.

Disclaimer. Case reference VI ACz 1125/23 comes from Polish public case-law databases. Every WIBOR case has an individual factual pattern, the outcome depends on the loan agreement's content, the evidence and the court's assessment. The law office does not guarantee an analogous outcome in any other case.

Before you call

The questions I hear most often before the first conversation. If yours isn't on the list, just call.

A legal consultation at the Bartosz Stasik Law Office costs PLN 250, with no time limit. The conversation lasts as long as the matter requires. The price covers a full case analysis, a discussion of legal options and a preliminary quote for further proceedings, if you decide to engage me. The consultation takes place at the office (ul. Horbaczewskiego 4/6 in Wrocław) or online (Google Meet, Microsoft Teams).

Some consultations close in 30 minutes, Others run for an hour and a half. I do not watch the clock, I do not interrupt, I do not bill extra minutes. The specific fee for handling the case is agreed only at the end of the consultation, once I see the scope of work.

The first call is a brief conversation of a few minutes during which I determine whether your matter falls within my area of practice. This is not yet the paid consultation. Its purpose is matching you with the right attorney, not analysing the case. I ask several questions, assess whether I can realistically help. If so, we schedule the full consultation (PLN 250, no time limit), at the office or online. If not, I point you toward where to look next.

Yes. The law office is in Wrocław, but I conduct cases before courts throughout Poland. Most communication is handled remotely, by phone, email and video conference. Clients visit the office only when they prefer to or when the procedure requires it. In practice I have represented clients from Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Szczecin, as well as expats living abroad.

Yes, I conduct online consultations via Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or regular phone, depending on your preference. An online meeting has the same legal and substantive value as an in-person meeting. The price is identical: PLN 250. It is simply more convenient for clients outside Wrocław, parents of small children, or people working unusual hours.

Bring all documents related to your matter and a brief chronological summary of events in a few sentences. The more context I can see before our conversation, the more specific my assessment of the situation will be.

Documents typically include contracts, court letters, decisions of authorities, and correspondence with the other party. The chronology does not need to be formal, notes about what happened, when, and who was involved are enough. If the matter involves email or messaging correspondence, screenshots or exports are helpful.

Fees are structured under one of three models: a flat fee for a specific task, an hourly rate for long-running matters, or a lump-sum fee for handling an entire case through to a final judgment. The specific amount and model are agreed during the full consultation, after document analysis.

A flat fee works well for one-off tasks like contract review, drafting a pleading, or a legal opinion. An hourly rate fits unpredictable, long-running matters, typically ongoing business advisory or complex disputes. A lump-sum fee is for an entire court case with a defined scope. Every engagement with the law office is in writing, all terms of cooperation are in the document signed before starting work on the case.

Yes. Polish attorney-client privilege covers everything I learn in connection with providing legal assistance, lasts indefinitely and applies regardless of whether you sign an engagement agreement. The legal basis is Article 3 of the Polish Act on Attorneys-at-Law.

The privilege covers both the initial conversation itself and all documents you provide to me. I cannot be released from this privilege even by a court, with very narrow exceptions provided by law (including self-defence in disciplinary or criminal proceedings against the attorney).

A divorce case in Wrocław takes from a few months to two or three years. An inheritance reserve (zachowek) case takes 12–24 months. A WIBOR case takes 18–36 months at first instance.

Divorce without a finding of fault and without property disputes typically closes in 3–6 months. Divorce with a finding of fault, custody disputes and division of property is two years or more. In WIBOR cases, a security order can be obtained within weeks; the substantive judgment at first instance typically takes 18–36 months. I'll assess a realistic timeline for your matter after analysing the documents.

Yes. I conduct consultations and handle cases in English. I represent foreign clients and expats in family law (divorce, custody, alimony for cross-border families), real estate (lease agreements, property purchase, landlord-tenant disputes), B2B contracts, IT/SaaS contracts and GDPR compliance, cross-border inheritance under EU Succession Regulation 650/2012, and WIBOR mortgage disputes for expats with Polish loans.

I represent borrowers in disputes with banks over Polish WIBOR-based mortgage clauses. The law office obtained the first final and binding security order in Poland in a WIBOR-based mortgage case (Warsaw Court of Appeal, ref. VI ACz 1125/23, 25 June 2024), the case was commented on by Politico Europe, Rzeczpospolita, Newsweek, Gazeta Prawna and Dziennik.pl.

I handle the full scope of WIBOR cases: contract analysis for abusive WIBOR clauses, motions for security (suspension of installment payments during proceedings), and lawsuits seeking either a declaration of contract invalidity or recovery of overpaid amounts. I cooperate with Damian Nartowski, PhD (WN Legal law office), we jointly publish analyses in Rzeczpospolita. In every WIBOR case I also assess the risk of CJEU case C-471/24, which affects procedural strategy.
